I am so grateful for Christian and for everything my husband and I learned from her. Her expertise was invaluable in easing my fears about labor and delivery. She helped us to manage expectations and guided us so that we knew what questions we needed to have answered, giving us more confidence about the entire process.
I felt confident in labor and managing pain because of Christian’s training, and I was able to make decisions in the hospital with less stress because of our preparation in her course. My husband benefited from the class as well. He was able to help me through contractions with massage techniques that we learned from Christian, and he was well versed in the stages of labor and emotional cues to make sure we went to the hospital at the right time. The hospital staff even complimented his coaching which he learned through the birthing class. Overall, giving birth was a joyful process and we attribute so much of that to the training we received from Christian.

How did the birth go? It was awesome! Ivy did great and stayed super calm, we used probably 20 of the relaxation techniques and massage and breathing, that Christian taught, throughout the day! Ivy started contractions at like 2-3 min apart, lasting for 1 min and that progressed for an hour, then her water broke (we were super surprised) and then we realized that she probably had a lot of contractions while sleeping and didn't know it. So then it slowed down and I tried to get her to relax, and breath - which went super well! She sat on the ball, she bent over on hands and knees, me putting pressure on her hips was the only thing that really helped relieve pain, so I did that a lot! And after about 1.5 - 2 hours of short contractions we went to the hospital and she was already dilated 6-7 cm!
Everything moved really fast and smoothly, she got an epidural, and was super happy and it was smooth sailing from then on! She labored about 4 more hours and he was here! It was an awesome experience! She got to reach down and touch his head a few times and was so excited, I know that helped for her to expect that! She's healthy, he's healthy! We're happy! Thank you so much for all of your support and help, we both feel like it made all the difference for us to both know what doctors were talking about and for us both to be relaxed and calm and enjoy the experience! We highly recommend taking Christian's class.

Meghan is a wonderful lactation educator! I was not able to exclusively breastfeed my firstborn so I was determined to try and make it work with our daughter! From the very beginning she was my biggest cheerleader! Our time together can be described as informative, empowering, and reassuring! Not only did she tangibly provide knowledge on correcting our latch and making us both comfortable, but she encouraged me so much that we as women our able to nourish our babies! She allowed me the space to take the lead with nursing my daughter but made gentle but clear directions with what needed improvement and/or correcting! As a result I was able to exclusively nurse my daughter for 15 months! I am so thankful!

“I loved that our childbirth class was with Christian, she was able to give us specific information on our specific birth plan. She helped us to really understand what happens at each stage of labor which calmed a lot of my nerves ahead of time. Once labor started, I had an understanding of what was happening in my body which helped me to relax and just let it happen.”

“Taking the birth class with Christian was a huge help. As a first time dad, I had no idea what to expect going into it. She helped me to not only prepare myself for the big day, but more importantly how to help my wife before and during the labor. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for solid, practical help in preparing for birth!”

“As a soon-to-be-father, there were a lot of things I didn't know. It seems like the culture treats child-birth as merely a "woman's thing"--I'm not really supposed to think about it, or even know what's going on... I'm just supposed to be there with my hand so that it can be squeezed like a vice.
That's silly; who else knows the greatest hopes and wishes, the "never-do" and the "maybe" that my wife holds in her heart? And when she is unglamorously laid on a bed shivering from uncertainty, who else can uphold her wishes, comfort her, and even record in memory the birth of our child?
Going through this birthing class did so many things for me (and us) that I can hardly recount them all. Perhaps most importantly, I was given information not opinions. We've all heard the myriad opinions out there--but with information I was able to measure the facts, probabilities, improbabilities, superstition, etc. against our own family values and discover our own birthing convictions.”

"My wife wants to have a natural birth and I want to be the best support for her. Christian did a great job of making me feel comfortable during her class and explaining to me what my role is and how to best support her."
— Mike Clary
"As a third time mom Christian did a great job listening to my needs and answering all my questions about how to best prepare for the birth I am dreaming of! She is patient and filled with information that even after multiple births I didn't know!"

“What was most helpful was learning the history and statistics regarding VBACs. Christian’s insight helped me understand that a VBAC is actually a more natural and safe birthing experience than the medical field often makes it out to be. After our class I had much more peace of mind about my wife attempting a VBAC for the birth of our second child.”

“We took a birthing class with Christian before our first child was born. I didn’t realize how unprepared I was until the class. It was so helpful to learn terminology, talk about different strategies for self-advocating during the birthing process, and to be honest about my (and my husband’s) fears.”
When things didn’t go as planned and I learned at 36 weeks that I would likely need a C-section unless the baby turned to the correct position, Christian was available and supportive in helping me do what I could to get him to turn. Even though he ended up coming via C-section, I felt much more prepared through my interactions with Christian.
The VBAC class was especially helpful as we prepare for the birth of our second child. I developed some fears, but taking the class with Christian helped me work through those and have a better understanding that VBACs are actually a very safe option. I feel much more prepared to ask questions of my doctor, work mentally and physically to prepare for natural birth, and to be open and honest about any fears or apprehensions. Christian has done her research, genuinely cares about her clients, and is supportive throughout the entire process.”

“I have two boys, a three year old and a 10 month old. My first son was a planned natural birth at a birthing center, however I landed in a hospital setting due to health complications. I was scared and didnt know what to expect.
The knowledge I recieved in Christian's birthing class put me at ease in a stressful situation. After completing the class I had a full understanding of what was happening inside my body from pre to post labor. With my second son I knew I wanted to labor at home as long as possible but didn't know what contractions were going to feel like because I was induced with my first. Christian continually answered all of my questions and assured me that things were progressing when I was frustrated.
When I didn't know what position the baby was in, Christian was able to belly map for me and give numerous of tools to help get the baby in the correct position for a smooth labor. Time and time again Christian's skills proved to be beyond helpful and gave me the most peace and understanding about pregnancy, labor and post labor. I felt supported and cared for throughout both of my pregnancies because of Christian's support and knowledge of birth.”

“Christian Lawson knows her stuff! She gave excellent advice throughout my pregnancy. One time I was suffering from what felt like early labor (stronger than braxton hicks, but wasn’t sure if it was labor, as I had three weeks to go). I called the nurse hotline and per usual, they said drink water and lie down. I called Christian and she confirmed the nurses’ advice, but also gave me extra help, including calming my concerns by explaining what was probably going on in my body and what I could do about it besides just rest and water. (In my case, she informed me that I was probably low in magnesium, of all things, and she gave me some to try)! Needless to say, it worked beautifully. Later on, when I went into labor, she met me at the hospital and helped during the birth of my son. This was incredibly helpful.
Did you know that after a child is born, a mother can shake uncontrollably, like she is super-shivering, if her baby is taken away from her too quickly? This happened with my first child, but I didn’t know Christian then. I shook for thirty minutes and threw-up a bucket of water before the shaking stopped. With my most recent birth, as soon as the nurses took my son away from me for measuring, etc, I started to shake again! This time I knew what was happening, but with Christian there, she quickly advocated for me and kindly asked the nurses if they could just hold off on the measuring and bathing of my boy until later. As soon as my son was placed back on my chest, I immediately stopped shaking and felt calm again. It was truly amazing. She is very knowledgeable about pregnancy, labor and delivery. I highly recommend taking her class!”

“When I think back about the birth of my sweet son, I always reflect on how valuable it was to have Christian as my doula, her work with me during my labor was kind, persevering and the reason I can say I had a successful natural water birth. In truth, I would have probably ended up with a medicated hospital birth if it weren’t for her constant presence, help and encouragement through my labor. From the moment she arrived at my home during early labor, she helped me to progress and my husband to enjoy the experience without angst. She immediately dimmed all of our lighting to create a calm space where my body could give in to the contractions instead of fight against them. She was never forceful, but always made sure that I was eating and drinking, getting the proper nourishment I needed to endure what the next hours would bring.
At one point in my labor, we went to the birth center, as contractions were progressing, and once there, found out that I had a ways to go, as I was only 3cm dilated and my son was posterior! Christian saw how discouraged I was, and we all anticipated many more hours before we would return, yet I felt so encouraged that she would stay by my side as they sent me home. Back at home, she used methods from Spinning Baby to successfully turn him to a correct position, and then labor progressed very quickly! Two hours later and we were back at the birth center, and I was about ready to push. Things slowed down once I started pushing, excessive adrenaline and fear set in and I truly had to “learn to push” for a while. I won’t say it was a quick learning experience, but again, Christian stayed by my side, helping the midwives, encouraging me, and making the atmosphere comfortable for this sacred time for my husband and I.
With excitement, we finally welcomed our son into the world, all 8lbs 15oz of him! Christian knew how taxing birth could be and ran out to get my husband and I food as soon as things calmed down. Looking back, I am incredibly thankful for Christian’s immeasurable help during my son’s birth. She helped turn what could have been a very discouraging and long day of labor into a beautiful experience that I will never forget! I would highly recommend taking her childbirth preparation course!”

“Christian’s knowledge of which medicines were best for mom and baby and which medicines weren’t was crucial to the success of my wife going through with our roughly planned birth plan. She did everything in her power to make the cold, sterile, and stressful environment of the hospital a soothing place for Joy to deliver our son.
Our original intent was to do a natural birth, but the hospital was adamantly against that from the moment we entered their domain. We would not have been able to withstand their constant pressure apart from Christian’s aid and we would have let them bully us into doing everything their way.
She’s knowledgeable, encouraging, and strong – 3 characteristics of a person every first time mom and dad should have with them during labor and delivery of their baby.”

“To say what I want to say about Christian in a few short sentences feels impossible, but I’ll try. She is wonderful! She is patient and kind and seems to know childbirth like the back of her hand. She is incredibly knowledgeable and is extremely helpful.
Not only does she know her stuff but she is passionate about what she does and loves others so well throughout the process. My husband and I are so thankful to know her, to have learned from her and to recommend her class to every pregnant mama we know!”
— Joy White
“Christian was an amazing and essential asset to our family during my first labor and delivery. We had a unique situation in that my husband was not able to be there for the birth of our firstborn son. We also wanted a hospital birth. Christian filled all the gaps we had in our situation perfectly! Her knowledge of labor and delivery in a holistically natural approach is extensive.
She was a coach, mentor, advocate, labor guru, doula and --most of all—a dear friend during my labor and delivery. Her presence brought a calmness yet assertive advocacy that otherwise would not have existed in that hospital room where birth is viewed as simply a procedure. I highly recommend taking her classes!”

“Christian Lawson's expertise was great to have during the delivery of my son. My wife and I were first time parents and didn’t know what to expect. I was a nervous wreck and wasn’t doing a great job of keeping my wife calm. Christian not only managed to keep my wife calm, she kept me calm, and made sure I was involved as much as I could be during the delivery.
After my son was born and it was time to cut the cord I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t realize the doctor was going to cut the cord, so she spoke up and reminded the doctor that I wanted to cut the cord. I really appreciated that because it was something I didn’t want to miss out on, and she made sure to watch out for what we wanted while my wife and I were busy being overwhelmed by our newborn. She truly pays attention to the wants of the parents and tries to ensure that they enjoy the birthing experience.

Christian Lawson was my doula because I wanted a natural delivery, but feared I would be overwhelmed during the delivery and need her help. She was amazing throughout it all. She kept me calm and focused during the delivery. She paid attention to the details I didn’t know too. She made sure I was breathing properly and helped me stay as comfortable as possible throughout the entire delivery.
She was also there when the baby was born to answer all my new mom questions. Christian is extremely caring and passionate about what she does. She has a true love of caring for mothers and babies and is such a joy to be around and makes sure to keep the mood light when times get tense. I would recommend her class to any new mother, or even an experienced mother, because she is amazing at what she does.

“This birth class was amazing for me and my hubby. I felt like I personally did a lot of research and knew a basic idea of what to expect when d-day came. My husband on the other hand was absolutely cluelessness! He learned so much about the ins-and -outs of childbirth, and I felt relieved to talk to someone who had gone through it. My husband was better able to help me when we had our little one. I can’t imagine how my husband would have been if he had not gone through the class hahaha!”
